Easter is this coming Sunday and it is really hard to believe that myself, along with millions of others, will not be spending it at a place of worship. Going to church on Easter Sunday has been a tradition of mine for many years. I attend church on a regular bases but Easter Sunday service has always been special to me. I will look at this on the bright side of things, a church is just a building. We can worship wherever we choose . There are many traditions families will have to re-adjust this Easter. No need to worry, I have a few ideas on things to do at home on Easter Sunday.
Attend Church Services Virtually
Many churches around the world have gone online thanks to this pandemic. Bedside baptist is truly a thing now. Since we are unable to worship in larger gatherings, watching the service online is a great way to enjoy church with the family. A lot of pastors are joining together on Sunday. Joel Osteen is having celebs like Kanye West, Mariah Carey and Tyler Perry. If you live alone, you can even watch services with friends thanks to apps like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Make Brunch at Home
I love a good brunch. I am planning to cook a nice brunch, make mimosas and enjoy the day. If you have family, set the table, put the phones down and have great conversation. Though many of us are tired of being in the house, some of us needed this time to engaged with our loved ones. Lets not take it for granted. If you live alone, call or Facetime your loved ones. Text people you haven’t spoken to in a while. Have virtual brunch with your friends or family.
Have a Easter egg hunt for the kids
Easter egg hunts are a staple for Easter. Because we can no longer gather in settings, have an Easter egg hunt in your front of back yard. If you live in an apartment and share outdoor space, try hiding the eggs throughout your home. You can also so things like egg decorating and dyeing.
Bar B Que for the family
Pull out the grill and get to grilling. I love having Bar B Ques. I am hoping the weather here in Houston is nice. You and the family can sit outside, eat some good food and relax. If you are not into bbq or simply do not want to cook, their are many nice restaurants that are doing curbside or delivery. Order a nice meal, set the table and you are good to go.
I know there are trying times, but we have to make the best of it. God wouldn’t give us more than we can bare. Lets try to see the good in this in some way. Be safe out there.
