Some may not believe it but around this time every year I often get asked ” What is the difference between a jumpsuit and a romper?” While many of you may know the answer, I decide to put the question to bed once and for all.
What is a jumpsuit?
A jumpsuit is defined as a garment incorporating trousers and a sleeved top in one piece, worn as a fashion item, protective garment, or uniform. Simple definition right? Jumpsuits can be worn as you see pictured but for years they have been a staple for many working class citizens. Utility jumpsuits have become very trendy this season. You can now find the one piece that is usually found on blue collar workers on runaways and and fashionistas everywhere.
How do you style it?
Jumpsuits are very versatile and can be styled in many ways. For those in a corporate setting, add a blazer over your jumpsuit to give it a chic workplace feel. Going to a formal event ?, a jumpsuit is perfect paired with the right accessories and heels. Preparing for a vacation? Grab the perfect hat and sandals and you are good to go? For a day of running errands add a pair of cool sneakers to you jumpsuit.
What is a romper?
A romper is defined as a a one-piece outer garment for adults, typically worn as overalls or as sports clothing. The definitions of a romper and a jumpsuit seem pretty similar because they both are one piece units. To me however, the two are a little different. A romper is simply a one piece short set whereas a jumpsuit has long pant. Rompers usually do not have a belt or zipper. Rompers usually have an elastic band and in some ways are more casual than a jumpsuit.
How to style a romper
Rompers come in an array of styles colors and patterns. Because they are usually short, they are perfect for a girls night out. You can pair them with heels or sandals if you want to be comfy. Rompers can be worn with casual sneakers which is my favorite way to style them. You can wear a kimono over your romper for a fun beach look. If you want to dress it up, pair your romper with a blazer and some nice pair of heels.
