Finally it is here!!! If you follow me on Instagram then you know I have been promising to do a closet tour for a while now. For some strange reason, I am totally obsessed with closets and with organizing. When I see a messy closet I get so excited and anxious to get my hands on it to bring it back to life. I am always searching for creative and functional ways to store my things. I recently moved into a house which is exciting however, the closets are so tiny. I decided to take the would be guest room and instead, turn it into my closet/ office or what I now call, my cloffice. Because I do not plan on staying in this house over a few years, I did not want to invest a lot of money into getting a custom closet built. I decided to make it a DIY project and spent about $500 doing so. Lets take a tour of my new cloffice.
I wanted to get the most out of every inch of this space so I made sure to build along the walls by adding bookshelves and racking. I do have a walk-in closet in my bedroom they stores my work and everyday clothing. This space is dedicated to weekend wear, events and of course items I use when creating content.
When you first enter the room you will see my hanging items. I purchased 2 heavy duty racks from Home Depot to hang my jackets, skirts and pants. I learned the hard way to get the heavy duty poles after having them break on me more than once. I added the shelf at the top of the racks (also from HomeDepot) to store handbags and some of the hats that I wear regularly.
When mapping out what I needed most for this cloffice space, I knew right away it would be shoe space. I purchased the bookcases and well as the dresser chest from Ikea. I keep the shoes that are in heavy rotation for me displayed on the shelves and change them out depending on the season or my mood. Inside the drawers I keep pajamas, leggings and t-shirts. I purchased the acrylic storage containers for Target and I keep my sunglasses in them. The containers are actually suppose to be used as drawer separators. I have totally been into headbands lately so when a blogger friend of mine recommended this headband holder from Amazon, I knew I had to grab it. It comes in two separate parts and you can actually store things in the middle of it. I store my scrunches in the middle section.
What’s a bookshelf without books? I have been collecting coffee table books for a while now and I think they are the perfect accessory when it comes to decorating. I have a total of 5 of these book cases. They were only $29.99 at Ikea and super easy to build. They actually come with brackets in case you want to mound them on the wall but I decided to sit them as is because I knew once I put my items on the shelves they would not fall.
So that I can make this bookshelf look a little different, I decided to remove the backing from the shelf. To me, it totally gave the bookshelf a new feel. One thing I love just as much as shoes or handbags. I wanted to make sure I displayed my favorites so that I wouldn’t forget about them when I get a new pair. I thought it would be fun to add a hook on a few on of bookshelves for hanging garments that are either delicate or that I am just obsessed with at the moment. The hooks came in a pack of 5 from target and you stick them wherever you decide.
The cube is from Target and it was came already assemble which was a total win for me. I purchased the jewelry tray set from Target for my earrings that are at the top of the cube. As you can see the inside of the cube are for handbags.
I got really lucky in the clearance section of Ikea and found this storage shelf for $25!! I love it because it has a full length mirror in the front which is perfect. I keep a few of my wigs at the top just in case I am in a rush and don’t have time to do my hair. I store makeup in most of the shelving inside. At the very bottom are my small handbags and clutch bags.
What is a cloffice without a desk? I had a very hard time finding a desk that I liked. I knew I wanted a white desk but I did not want it to be shinny. I also needed it to be the perfect size for the space, not too big but not really small. Surprisingly, I found this one at QVC with just a simple google search. What sold me on this desk was the glass sides. I love it and its so easy to wipe down. Sorry I didn’t get a picture of the front of it. The desk is now sold out but I found a very similar at Home Depot.
There you have it, my cloffice space in a nutshell. What do you think? Would you consider building a cloffice? Let me know if you want details on anything I missed am I will add them below.
