Hello everyone! or should I say, "Hey yall" in my most southern accent. Welcome to my blog. My name is Chimee, pronounced (Chi-Mae) . It is a Nigerian name and it means "God does". My dad is Nigerian and he named me. My mother is American. I was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Baton Rouge, La. I moved back to Houston in 2006 to pursue a very short lived goal of becoming a Social Worker.
Since I can remember I have always loved fashion. My mother was the most fashionable women I knew back in the day and would always dress me up in beautiful clothing and shoes. My dad is a very well dressed man and his closet would put many others to shame. Growing up in Louisiana I could not afford many of the pieces that I was attracted to so I worked retail throughout high school and college so that I could get discounts at my favorites retailors.
Despite setbacks and disappoints, I am very proud of who I am today. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation & Disability Services and a Masters Degree in Human Resources but I truly believe the sky is the limit for me.
I decided to start a blog just last year as an outlet to share my love for fashion and style. Prior to starting the blog I was (and still am) a part-time stylist for local boutiques and fashion events here in Houston, TX. At first blogging was just a past time way that I could show friend, family and followers what I am wearing but now it has become so much more. I love the fact that I can connect with people around the world that share the same love and passion I have for fashion.
On Aroundthewaygyrl, you will find my daily outfit posts, beauty tips, fun giveaways among other great things. My blog is for anyone who share the same likes and obsessions as I have but it is mostly for the everyday women, those who are working 9-5 trying to stay alive. The girl who may never be a fashion model or a beauty queen but her style and confidence would turn the heads of many...the Aroundthewaygyrl!!!
I am beyond grateful for the love and support of my family, amazing friends and you, the readers. You all give me so much encouragement and inspiration daily and I will never take that for granted.
Thank you so much for reading.
