For the last few years, sneakers have become a dominate part of every season. Now more than ever you will see people in sneakers on every corner, from the suburbs, to the neighborhood street corners and even on the runway. Gone are the days you cringe when you see your granny throw on a pair of sneaker with her dress as she commute to work. Now sneakers come in so many shapes, colors and styles, they can spice up any basic or boring outfit. You will now see sneakers worn with lace dresses, skirts and even formal dresses. Some people are still uncomfortable with how to wear sneaker and dress so I will give you a few pointers that work for me.
- Pick the perfect sneaker
The worse thing you can do is buy a pair of sneakers just because they are trendy or because they look good on others. Sneakers are statement pieces so its important to get a pair you love. Decide if you want hightop or low top. In some cases, hightop sneakers can make a short persons legs look even shorter so maybe low tops would look better. On the other hand people that are taller might want avoid platform or bulky sneakers . What ever the case may be, make sure you love the sneaker that you purchase.
2. Find a dress you love
Because I am a curvy girl I try not wear dresses with no structure. If I do, I make sure they are shorter because to me, it draws attention to your legs. When finding a dress to wear with sneakers, think about the occasion. Are you going to a fashion event? Run a few errands? Or maybe happy hour with your girlfriends? Different occasions causes for a different style of dress to make sure you pick the best one for whatever you have planned for the day.
3. Socks or no Socks
This one is more of a preference. I usually do not wear socks with dresses but when I do, its usually with a sportier look. I also don’t think it make sense to wear them with high top sneakers because you probably won’t be about to see them. With designers like Gucci and Fendi making their mark with logo socks, they can definitely change the game when you are putting together a look and want to it with socks.
4. Be Confident
Whatever you wear, be confident. Confidence can make or break any outfit. There is nothing worse than putting on an outfit and not feeling your best in it. If you don’t love what you are wearing, don’t wear it. You will hate it the moment you walk outside. Loving what you wear is the most important why to pull off any trend .
