LaserlogoLets face it, from child birth to menstrual women and out bodies go through a lot. Having unwanted hair on any area of our bodies is not exception. Like many women in the workforce, I am very busy and shaving any part of my body takes too much time and effort. Not only is it a very temporary fix but it is also very time consuming. I have tried many different ways to rid unwanted hair for good. Some worked really well, others not so much. Out of the many different hair removal trial and error products I have used, below are the type 5 I use on a regular bases. They are very affordable and have worked well for me.

Threading removes the entire hair follicle and is a hair removal method that lines up hair in order to trap it in a tiny lasso; and it lifts the hair completely.  I like threading because it last longer than waxing and it doesn’t thin you brow like razors do. It hurts a bit but the pain is worth the results. The average price for threading is between $5-$20 depending on the area.

Nair Hair Remover Lotion

nairNair is an easy-to-use hair removal lotion that is applied to the skin to remove unwanted hair. You simply apply it lotion to the area of your choice, let it set for a few minutes and wipe it off. Nair is definitely a quick fix and you have to reapply pretty regularly. However, when you are in a rush or want to remove hair temporally, it is the way to go. Nair can be purchased at you local pharmacy or retail store.

Finishing Touch Yes Hair Remover

laser2Yes Hair Remover is an instant and pain free hair remover. It has advanced sense-light technology effective for all skin types. I like it because it is portable and comes with two detachable blades that removers fine are course hair. Yes Hair remover last for a few weeks and it great for the girl on the go.

Emjoi Epislim Epilator

Emjoi-epi-slimThe Emjoi Epislim is a compact epilator with a narrow strip of 9 tweezer discs. It removes hair from the root from delicate areas like the upper lip, chin, cheek, bikini line & underarms. The epilator is suitable for the most sensitive areas and removes hair from the root for up to 6 weeks. Though a little painful this little device works very well.

Laser Hair Remover

Laser Hair Remover is a medical procedure that uses a laser to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. Laser Hair Removal is the most expensive of them all but it also gives the best results. Laser technology has really come a long way. Years ago I was turned away by dermatologist because they did not have lasers to treat darker skin, fortunately, many spas and dermatology clinics now have the technology . So far I have gotten laser on my upper lip, underarms and bikini areas and I have seen tremendous result.

Happy Blog Anniversary to me!!! It is hard to believe that it has been a year since I started blogging and I could not think of a better way to celebrate than to relaunch with a new name, a new website and a new attitude. I began blogging a year ago as an outlet to express myself through fashion but it has grown to become more than a past time hobby for me. I really enjoy it. Not only am I allowed to show readers and followers my take on style and fashion but I also receive great satisfaction when someone I do not even know comment, email or inbox me letting me know that I have inspired them in some way through fashion.

So, why did I change the name of my blog from MsChimee to Aroundthewaygyrl? Well, if you grew up in the 80s like me, then you should be familiar with the LL Cool J song, Around The Way Girl. A few of the lyrics:

Silky, bilky
Your smiles’ like sunshine
That’s why I had to dedicate at least one rhyme
To all the cuties in the neighborhood
‘Cause if I didn’t tell you, then another brother would
You’re sweet like sugar with your gangsta talk
Wanna eat you like a cookie when I see you walk
With your rayon, silk, or maybe even denim
It really doesn’t matter as long as your in ’em
You can break hearts and manipulate minds
Or surrender, act tender
Be gentle and kind
You always know what to say and do
Go flip when you think your man is playing
No cheap or petty
You’re ready for loving
You’re real independent, so your parents be buggin’
But if you ever need a place to stay
Come around my way

When that song was released I was only 8 years old but I remember watching the video and the women were so pretty to me.They were so well dressed at the time, biker shorts, bamboo earring, Fendi bag. They were confident and I though “Wow, I want to be like them!!”. Of course I was too young to really understand those girls probably were paid models, some might not have been what we consider “role models” today, but I wasn’t thinking about that at all. I was simply mesmerized by their confidence, independence and style when I watched the video. So when thinking of a new name for my blog that song and video played back in my mind.  I thought Aroundthewaygyrl was perfect because my blog is dedicated to the everyday women, what I consider to be Around The Way Girls, the girls that are strong, independent, confident with a bit of attitude. So cheers to you girl!!

I look forward to sharing some amazing things and I am so appreciative of my readers.
